I grew up in Stamford, CT, which is a diverse city. I fell in love with science when I took physics in 11th grade. Ever since then, I've become passionately curious about engineering, biology, nutrition, biophysics, computer programming, and so much more. I earned my B.S. in Biology from the University of Alabama-Huntsville, and then earned my M.S. and Ph.D in Biophyiscs from the University of Massachusetts. During my time as a Ph.D. student, I liked my research but I loved teaching undergraduates more. After talking to many teachers and doing some of my own research, I felt that teaching was my calling. I became passionate about teaching in urban areas and making sure that every child gets a great education, regardless of where they are born.
